Pyramid’s Director of Systems Engineering shares insight on WMS, WES and WCS software strategy
Modern Materials Handling provides comprehensive coverage of productivity solutions for materials handling professionals in distribution, warehousing and manufacturing.
Their article “Information Management: WMS, WES and WCS in the automation era” explores how many companies are seeking more unified software solutions that can connect people, inventory and equipment across increasingly automated operations. As warehouses and distribution centers continue adopting more advanced technologies, the article examines how WMS, WES and WCS platforms are evolving to support more integrated, end-to-end control.
For the article, writer Bridget McCrea interviewed Austin Santich, Director of Systems Engineering for Pyramid. Austin shared his perspective on how more companies are evaluating software that can manage a greater share of building operations without relying on separate systems for every function. He notes that both WMS and WES platforms are expanding to address this need, as customers look for solutions that can support broader visibility, coordination and execution across the facility.
Austin also emphasizes that the best software choice depends on each operation’s specific priorities. Some organizations may value strong standard functionality, while others may need greater flexibility, customization, integration support, or long-term service. The right decision starts with understanding the facility’s current challenges, future goals and the capabilities that matter most to the business.
According to Santich, companies should not expect one software platform to be the perfect answer for every operation. Instead, they should take time to define what is most important to their organization and evaluate solutions based on how well they support those needs.
Pyramid’s NEXUS WES software is also featured in imagery for the online article and appears twice in the digital version of the July print magazine. This marks Pyramid’s first article in a major industry publication under its new name.
