Meet Olivia Juenger, Cincinnati’s Product Marketing Specialist.
What did you do before working at Matthews?
I studied Visual Communications, social media, and marketing at Ohio University. I graduated in May 2023. Before coming to work at Matthews I spent time living in DC and interning at a lifestyle magazine. I was also the art director of one of my college’s student run newspapers and ran the college’s involvement social media for two years. In college since I was part of the Scripps College of Communication there was a huge media focus. Even though I enjoyed my time as an intern I didn’t enjoy the constant race and burnout in the media industry. When I started looking for jobs I wanted to do something with digital marketing.
When did you join Matthews and how long have you been working for Matthews?
I was hired the week leading up to my graduation in May 2023. I started officially by the end of that month and have been with Matthews Automation over six months.
Why did you come to work for Matthews Automation?
Warehouse Automation was a new industry to me and the benefits to grow are endless. The job description was everything I wanted to do with my skills, and I felt that it was the perfect starting point in my professional career.
What is the most exciting aspect of your career with Matthews?
The most exciting aspects of my career are traveling and participating in trade shows, creating social media campaigns, and exploring distribution centers. I also enjoy working with my coworkers all around the country and in Cincinnati.
What is the most interesting project you are working on right now?
Planning on our MODEX Booth! Working on a trade show plan takes months of labor, and it is a new concept for me. I am learning the ropes of this part of the industry and I am looking forward to MODEX 2024!
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing would be creating social media content, helping set and design our trade show space and plans, designing and refining UI/UX drafts, and brainstorming on new ideas for campaigns.
What interesting industry trends have you noticed in distribution and fulfillment techniques and automation?
The use of social media in the automation industry. The use of social media, especially TikTok, in our Industry can be quite taboo. However, as the workforce changes companies have become more accepting of building their social media presence. People get too many emails so social media is a good avenue to drive traffic too. Social media is a great tool to spread awareness, promote branding, brand affinity and humanization, and customer service. Seeing some companies create content for trending memes is always my favorite.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love to be creative by taking time to paint, draw, sew, and sculpt. I enjoy cooking and baking, my favorite recipes to make are sweet Thai chicken, feta pasta, and anything with mashed potatoes. I love baking and decorating cakes, cookies, and anything with chocolate. I like to spend time in nature and walk/hike. My new favorite hobby is being a cat mom to my two newly adopted kittens Larry and Karma. I also love to traveling, I went to Costa Rica this year and am planning my next adventure.
