Matthews Automation Solutions to Highlight Integrated Supply Chain Technologies

integrated automation streamlined supply chains

WILSONVILLE, OR (January 7, 2016) — Matthews Automation Solutions and its four brands—Holjeron, Lightning Pick, Matthews Marking Systems and Pyramid—will showcase integrated supply chain technologies and solutions at MODEX 2016 in Booth 1037. The conference and exhibition, sponsored by MHI, will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, April 4-7, 2016.MODEX logo 2016

HOLJERON

Holjeron will unveil its new 2.5-inch diameter motorized Microroller® at the show. The internally powered, motor-driven roller is capable of conveying palletized loads up to 1,500 pounds. It complements Holjeron’s existing 1.9-inch diameter Microroller, expanding the maximum load capacity that can be conveyed upon it. Features include a 24-volt direct current (DC) brushless, high-torque motor and permanently lubricated planetary gear reduction drive for maintenance-free operation. The roller is rated for a 25,000-hour operational life.

LIGHTNING PICK

Lightning Pick will feature its LP Light Sled that optimizes cluster picking by enabling several cartons to be grouped together for faster, more accurate order fulfillment; the LP Zone Free zoneless, scan-free, box-to-picker order fulfillment system that maximizes picker efficiency and balances workloads; and a redesigned graphical user interface (GUI) for Lightning Pick order fulfillment execution software. Additionally, a variety of light-directed order fulfillment solutions for omni-channel retail operations will be highlighted, including:

  • LP Pick pick-to-light for picking of fast- and medium-velocity stock keeping units (SKUs) in forward pick areas and pick modules.
  • LP Put dual-sided put-to-light put wall for light-directed order sortation of batch-picked, mixed SKUs into unique e-commerce customer orders.
  • LP Pack pack-to-light light-directed picking system (also sometimes called “put-to-light” or “put-to-store”) for breaking of full cases of inventory down to less-than-case quantities to replenish items at individual retail stores.
  • LP Cart multi-shelf mobile picking carts that automate batch picking of multiple, one- to two-line orders at the same time during a single pass through the warehouse, while following the shortest route.
  • QC Workstations that provide an automated method of confirming a parcel’s contents and verify pick accuracy and quality prior to shipping (and/or to facilitate returns processing).

MATTHEWS MARKING SYSTEMS

Matthews Marking Systems will display its MPERIA multi-technology controller and graphical user interface (GUI) platform, paired with the VIAjet T-Series high-resolution print heads and new bulk ink supply to replace adhesive labels and pre-printed cartons. Also featured is the VIAjet L-Series thermal inkjet printer—a clean, fast alternative to thermal transfer and adhesive packaging labels, as well as for industrial marking onto paper, chipboard, corrugated and plastics.

PYRAMID

Pyramid will highlight its Pyramid Director WES warehouse execution software and controls that translates inputs from an operation’s information systems—including warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems—with sophisticated algorithms to receive and process orders. It then synchronizes and directs multiple, disparate automation technologies via an integrated material handling equipment (MHE) warehouse control software (WCS). The result is cohesive system management, balanced workflows and coordinated control of different systems to enhance order flow, accuracy and fulfillment speed. Also featured are solutions that optimize automated order finishing systems (including product bagging, boxing, carton labeling and document insertion), and re-control retrofits  of existing loop sorters (such as tilt-tray, bombay and cross-belt) for better performance.
